It's been a hot minute since I posted on here. Work basically took over my life the week of Christmas and New Years and things just started to slow down recently. I also wanted to take a bit to reflect on 2017 and what I want to accomplish in 2018.
2017 was a year full of change, new experiences, and I learned a lot about myself as cliche as that sounds. I am super grateful that I graduated college and moved down to Florida to start a new chapter in my life. I can honestly say that moving down here has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've made some of the best friends that I've ever had and have the best job ever. But 2017 also brought some not so great moments but I'm not even going to bother going into those since they are in the past. Like Rafiki said, "Oh yes, the past can hurt, but you can either run from it or learn from it." I sure as hell learned from it.
We are 14 days into 2018 and it's already been a great year so far. Even though I rang in the New Year asleep, I started it off right in my opinion. I spent NYE with some of my favorite people at work and then I spent the rest of the week with my family since they were in town. I already made some great memories with my friends, family, and roommates and even adopted a cat (sorry mom!!!). I'm so excited to see what this year brings and I'm beyond glad 2017 is done with. It took me a few days to think of some goals for 2018. I prefer goals over resolutions because to me, a goal can always be exceeded and changed while a resolution is a firm decision or an issue that needs to be fixed.
Goals for 2018:
Write at least one blog post a week - I was honestly doing pretty well with this until I was traveling, had people come visit me, and the holidays being in full swing. I gave myself a nice little break and now it's time to get back into blogging once a week. I already have some content planned out and hope to do more fashion posts as well!
Put $50 from every paycheck into my savings account - This doesn't seem like much but I get paid weekly and want to keep adding money to my savings account. I stopped adding money this past month because of bills and such but I want to have some sort padding in there in case anything happened.
Pay off my credit cards completely by June - Just like my savings account, I try to pay some portion of credit card debt weekly to slowly lower the amount on my credit cards. I was super good about paying them off completely when I was a server and had graduation money but then I moved and needed to use my credit cards more than I wanted to.
Go on more trips/adventures - I already have 4 trips planned so far for this year but I also want to travel more around Florida. I would love to spend a weekend on a beach just relaxing and maybe visit somewhere in south Florida since I've never been.
Dine at a new Disney restaurant once a month - I love dining on Disney property and I want to go to a new restaurant once a month. I hope get most of this goal knocked out with my job but I'm excited to try to keep up with this goal! Maybe I'll even blog about each place I visit.
Focus more on self love - One thing I started to work on last year was self love. I want to keep focusing on that and put my happiness first. I'm not going to settle for anything less than what I deserve and not let a man dictate my happiness. I'm not going to lie about who I am to please anyone and want to start thinking more about the positives instead of the negatives.
