Arbua Travel Diary

Helllllloooo my wonderful pals! I'm still the worst blogger in all of existence but oh well. Two weeks ago, I traveled to Aruba with my boyfriend and his family and I figured I'd throw together a little post about our trip! This was my first time out of the country (!!!) and I fell in looooove with Aruba. The people were so kind, the weather was (mostly) beautiful, and I drank my weight in strawberry daiquiris which made me one happy camper. A huge thank you goes out to my boyfriend and his fam for letting me come along with them!!

STAYED // My boyfriend's family has a timeshare at the Marriott Surf Club so that's where we stayed! We had such a gorgeous view of the pool and the ocean and during sunset, it was so amazing. This entire beach strip of Aruba is all hotels and resorts and I don't think you could go wrong picking one but I'd for sure stay here again. They even had a resident cat that hung around outside and she was such a sweet little thing!

ATE // My boyfriend and I love food and we were very impressed with the two of the places we went to: Adarti and Faro Blanco. My favorite though was Adarti even though it is a seafood restaurant (I don't really like seafood btw). Buttttttt it was directly on the beach as in our table was three feet from the tide coming in and we got there right before sunset. The ambiance was just so romantic and the food was delicious. I ordered the beef tenderloin and Spenser got the sea bass. We also polished off a bottle of rose and the Chocoholic dessert (guys it was so good omg). This was also right down the beach from our resort so getting there was super convenient!

As for Faro Blanco, this is located by the California Lighthouse and it's an Italian restaurant. We also got here right as the sun was setting so it was a super gorgeous view overlooking the water. We (as in me, Spenser, and his family) had the caprese salad and shared two bottles of white wine. I ordered the Lasagna Nostrana which was basically extra cheesy lasagna and it was good. I honestly don't know if there was actually any pasta in because all I tasted was cheese, which is totally fine by me tbh. Spenser ordered the veal Parmesan. He said it was super good but the portion size was huge!

I also highly recommend the chicken tenders and fries that the resort has! For some reason, chicken tenders are just better on vacation ðŸ¤·

THINGS TO DO // There is a lot to do in Aruba but my favorite part was just relaxing by the beach under a palapa with a good book and strawberry daiquiri. I also really loved the lazy river at our resort because who doesn't love a lazy river?! I could have done that for the entire trip but we threw in some other fun activities too!

One afternoon, we did a private snorkeling trip! For three hours, we went to three different spots in the ocean and it was so cool! I don't do well on boats though and man, it was rough. I took "non-drowsy" Dramamine but I was still so tired from it plus feeling a bit motion sick from the waves towards the end. I also have an irrational fear of the snorkeling breathing tube so I didn't really use it. I just wore my goggles, held my breath, and swam around which worked for me! Also, our boat driver had alcohol, fruit, and cheese for us on board as well.

Spenser and I didn't do this but Kate (his sister/my bff) and her boyfriend did a UTV tour and they loved it! I wish we had time to do it too but oh well. They got to jump off a cliff, drive all around the island, and do other cool things.

The last day I was there, Spenser's mom and I met Spenser and his dad a few blocks away after their work meeting and took a trip to the shops downtown. Their downtown is super cute and so colorful! It was fun to walk around and we all got matching friendship bracelets. The shopping is super similar to any beachy area with little tourist shops and also big brand shops.

I'm super bummed that I didn't go to the donkey sanctuary or the ostrich farm when I was there. I had to come back home earlier than Spenser and his fam because I had to go back to work. Next time though!
